Each day O'Connell St Little Academics uses the educational power of play to grow your child socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually—all while having fun.
Our passionate and engaging teachers grow, learn, and imagine with your child, whether building a spaceship to blast off to Mars or inviting a new friend to share a story during group time. We believe “curriculum” is everything that happens in the classroom, from interactions and meals to singing and playing. We never miss an opportunity to blend play with our early education curriculum. We provide a balance between choice and structured activities, between group and individual pursuits, and between teacher and child-directed experiences. |
Celebrating DiversityO'Connell St Little Academics acknowledge the traditional custodians of our land by participating in a Yarning Circle with the children and educators every morning.
We respect the different cultures and traditions of the children at the centre by celebrating special festivals and occasions through song, dance, food, art and craft. This is to further encourage a sense of belonging, being and becoming. |
SustainabilitySustainability addresses the ongoing capacity of Earth to maintain all life. The environment at O’Connell St Little Academics ELC is filled with light, natural and recycled materials and resources to provoke a sense of wonder and curiosity. It is a small, intimate space for only 21 children aged between 6 weeks and 5 years allowing for strong relationships between all three protagonists; children, parents and educators.

Programs By Age
Babies Room
Our Nursery room accommodates children between the ages of 6 weeks to 2 years old. This age group is called the “Babies”, which aims to develop trusting, supportive relationships with children and families. We have created a happy and safe environment for children which will develop their cognitive, social and gross/fine motor skills. They will learn basic language skills and social skills, such as how to interact with other children and educators. We work closely with our children to explore their interests and work on areas of improvement through play-based learning, which guides our planned experiences, daily routines and events. |
Early Learners Room
The Toddlers room accommodates children between the ages of 2 to 3 years old. This age group is called the “Early Learners", which prepares children for the Preschool age group. Our educators create a variety of play-based learning activities, helping children develop their cognitive, social, communication, self-help, creative and motor skills. Children will learn to communicate their needs, ideas and thoughts, as well as social skills and manners. Children will also learn to take the initiative such as looking after their belongings, and packing away equipment once they are finished using them. Toddlers will also have the opportunity to get involved in the extracurricular activities such as French classes. |
Preschoolers Room
Our Preschool accommodates children between the ages of 3 years to 5 years old. The Preschool room differs slightly from other age groups with the inclusion of School Readiness program. The room is structured by the future graduation dates. One of the core aims of the Preschool age group is to prepare our children for their very first experience in their school years. We work closely with families and children to support them during this important transition period. School Readiness is delivered throughout the week as part of our day-to-day learning experiences. The Preschool program is designed to cultivate core skills such as problem-solving, decision-making and creativity, as well as developing self-esteem, emotional stability and independence. We also encourage and assist children in developing their enthusiasm, curiosity and passion for learning through various activities based on children’s interests, feedback and strengths. |
